Background Information
Hi, I'm William Purdy.
I moved to Telluride in 1995 from Mount Baldy, California, where I worked at a small ski area fixing anything that moved and a few things that didn't. Upon arriving here, I discovered, much to my surprise, that my grandfather had actually worked at the Lewis Mine back in 1910. I guess that's one of the many reasons I'm drawn to this place.
My first business venture in Telluride was to lease a backhoe and open a custom plowing/digging operation. That got me familiar with the area, and with the kinds of problems people encounter when they live year-round at high altitude and in snowy conditions. I sold the backhoe business and decided to draw upon my strengths as a repairman and handyman.
In mountain communities, it can sometimes be difficult to find workers who come when they say they will come, and who are available year round. That's where my company shines. I fulfill a much-needed niche for reliable, competent appliance service repair.
Telluride Appliance Repair
In 2004, when I started Telluride Handy Person, I did it with an open mind as to what kind of work I would do. I figured that the customers demand would guide what I did. From the beginning, I received 1 to 4 calls for appliance repair each week. Appliances here in Telluride are very high-end and sophisticated, so I passed the work to others. The calls NEVER went away. It was difficult or impossible for my customers to find timely factory authorized service for their appliances.
So...in January '08, I contacted one of the more exclusive manufactures and I was immediately on my way to factory support and factory training. Several days every month I am away on factory training's. I have traveled as far as Madison,WI and Tulsa OK to get the latest training. "Factory Authorized" brings prompt warranty work AND I have the full support of the factory to repair your machines the right way!
